Aconveyancing takes the conversation to Project 28 in London

Aconveyancing is proud to be a member of Project 28, an industry-wide initiative bringing together organisations from across the property sector with one ambitious objective: to help reduce the time between sale agreed and exchange to just 28 days.

On Thursday 10 September, Aconveyancing Managing Director Ben Davidson will be speaking at the Project 28 conference in London, joining industry leaders to discuss how we can turn that ambition into meaningful change.

What is Project 28?

The Project 28 Charter has been developed through collaboration between conveyancers, estate agents, lenders, brokers, technology providers and other organisations involved in the home-moving process.

Its eight commitments focus on practical changes including earlier instruction of the seller's conveyancer, providing relevant information upfront, using trusted data, improving how information is shared and commissioning leasehold information earlier.

For Aconveyancing, those principles closely reflect our own approach to improving the conveyancing process.

We believe there is enormous potential to improve the way property transactions work – but we don't need to wait for wholesale legislative or technological change before making progress.

The question we continually ask ourselves is:

What can we change today?

From upfront information to action

One area where Aconveyancing is already putting the principles behind Project 28 into practice is through our Legal Insight Reports.

Our approach is based on the belief that simply collecting more upfront information isn't enough. That information needs to be analysed, understood and, most importantly, acted upon.

By analysing hundreds of property and transaction data points earlier in the home-moving journey, our Legal Insight Reports are designed to identify potential legal issues before they have an opportunity to become delays.

The accompanying Legal Insight Summary then gives estate agents and clients a clear overview of the findings, helping everyone involved in the transaction understand where attention may be required.

It's about moving legal understanding closer to the point at which a property comes to market – rather than discovering avoidable problems weeks into a transaction.

Leading change together

Speaking ahead of the conference, Ben Davidson said:

“28 days is deliberately ambitious. Getting there won't be achieved by one organisation or one part of the industry working in isolation. It requires estate agents, conveyancers, lenders, brokers and technology providers to work differently and work together.

“For me, the important thing about Project 28 is its focus on practical change. There is plenty we can improve within the market as it operates today. At Aconveyancing, we want to be part of demonstrating what is possible when we start earlier, use information intelligently and turn that insight into action.”

Ben will be speaking at the Project 28 conference in London on Thursday 10 September, sharing Aconveyancing's perspective on how the industry can move from ambition to practical delivery.

As a founding member, we're excited to be part of that conversation – and, more importantly, part of what happens next.
